Our teammate spotlight series highlights what makes our company so special – our employees! Read more to get to know our employees and what drives them at gWorks.

Position:

I am a Client Support Manager for FrontDesk.

Length of Employment with gWorks:

I have been here seven years in July. Prior to this January, I was a Client Success Representative and handled both support requests and new installations of our financial software.

What brought you to gWorks?

I came onboard with the former Data Technologies Inc. in July of 2013. I was hired on as a Client Support Representative. I was in the market for an Accounting Position and the applied for this position. The company was looking for a remote employee with an Accounting degree who was interested in client implementation and software support for Fund Accounting software. It was a perfect match! When Data Tech was purchased by gWorks in Feb of 2019, it got even more exciting. I wanted to make sure I fit in the new company culture dedicated to client success and continual improvement and wanted to do whatever I could to help ensure our clients were able to achieve their goals in using our software. That is when I entered my current role of Client Success Manager (“CSM”).

What is your favorite part of working at gWorks?

My favorite part is the forward-thinking leadership that provides a vision to continue the long-standing and established company’s success well into the future. Their ability to truly “listen to the client” and “focus on the client” is tremendous and exciting! I am thrilled each day to do my part to create a positive impact in the GovTech sector! If I can go to bed at night thinking, “I made a positive difference in the life of one or more of our clients” today, then it’s been a good day. gWorks leadership gives me the tools I need to make that difference! I love the autonomy the gWorks Exec Team affords, coupled with the never-ending support and consideration for continuous improvement as a company.

What do you enjoy most about your role as a CSM and why?

The ability to build relationships and help create happy and confident software users while working proactively to ensure client success with our full suite of GovTech products! It is a great feeling to be able to offer tools that will contribute to all that success. This is a trickle-down effect: successful clients result in prospering municipalities, which results in pleased elected officials serving their constituents, which results in happy citizens.

What has been your favorite project at gWorks and why?

One of my favorite projects is the ability to offer our clients software solutions and best practices that will simplify their lives and provide their councils with everything they need for the benefit of all of the city’s inhabitants!

What made you want a career in GovTech?

It is a vibrant and ever-changing market. We have a real ability to make a difference. Born and raised in a small town in Eastern Iowa, I know the value of these small and midsize communities. Our SimpleCity Fund Accounting Management and SimpleCity Physical Asset Management software offer the perfect solution for small to midsize cities. It’s an honor to be on the delivery end of that solution. Combining both an accounting background with cutting edge GovTech solutions is so exciting!

What’s your favorite client story?

It’s hard to narrow them down, but I do have at least two.

  1. The City of Strawberry Point, IA, installed SimpleCity Fund Accounting Management in the summer of 2018. I went onsite to train two of their employees in our Utility Billing software. They were a pleasure to work with and picked up using the software very quickly. This past January, Strawberry Point reached out to say, “our assets really need to be organized.” This allowed us the opportunity to demonstrate our Physical Asset Management Software (PAM), and they are just now coming online with it. It is a great thing to see a city work proactively and incorporate both of these software solutions successfully!
  2. The City of Mediapolis, IA, came on board with all of the core SimpleCity Fund Accounting Management modules in the Fall of 2019. They absolutely embraced the software and were such a joy to work with throughout training and implementation. The Clerk was so happy to have excellent fund accounting software and say goodbye to her former software. I remember her gaining confidence by comparing her new SimpleCity software to old software and witnessing her excitement! Like so many of our clients, she is a young, vibrant clerk and happy in her job and with her software. Seeing her embrace the software has been so fun to see.
